Fundraising is a great way to get involved with First Descents. Without the support of our fundraisers past and present, First Descents would not have been able to serve over 800 young adults with cancer since 2001.
The biggest impact you can have for First Descents is by raising money through Team FD.
Beyond Team FD, we have many people who want to do fundraisers for First Descents, so we developed an event packet to guide you through the process of hosting a 3rd party fundraiser. It provides you with all of the tools you need to host an event on behalf of First Descents. Please use the links in the upper left to access the documentation.
Want to host a fundraiser, but are not sure what works? Below we have listed some ideas for fundraising events.
Here are some ideas to get you started
- The first thing you should do is set a fundraising goal. Tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Ask them if they would donate to help you meet your goal.
- Have a weekend garage sale. Contact your neighbors and friends to chip in and make it a big weekend event. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Get rid of old stuff you don’t need while adding to your fundraising goal.
- Host a dinner party and ask people to donate whatever they can in return for a fantastic dinner.
- Hold a car wash in your neighborhood or at your local market. Believe it or not a car wash brings in a lot of cash and it’s fun!
- Reach out to your local church or social group to see if they will help you host a pancake breakfast on behave of your Fundraising goal for FD.
- Host a party at your favorite bar or restaurant. Have a cover charge at the door that will go to your fundraising goal. You can even ask the restaurant if they will give you a percentage of the nights revenue to FD.
- Have a cell phone party. There are many companies that buy old cell phones for the parts. Everyone has an old cell phone! Great way to add to your fundraising goal and help the environment by recycling.
- Host your own backyard BBQ. You can charge people for the food and drinks to help meet your fundraising goal. Good food. Good company. Good cause!
