It was our 3rd annual overnight on the Upper Colorado River. The weather was perfect, we had a solid group of 20, and devoured a delicious dinner of fajitas and cast iron campfire peach cobbler. Camping at Rancho del Rio proved to be the greatest challenge of the weekend as the group sites are very close together and we had some rowdy neighbors that thought they sounded like Bruce Springsteen and serenaded everyone until Note to self: ALWAYS pack earplugs.
We woke up early for coffee and a quick breakfast and then wandered over to the SUP Colorado igloo. After gear assignments and a quick river SUP 101 demo, we were on the Upper C and paddling towards State Bridge – 6 miles downriver. Our group crushed Class II+ whitewater, knocked each other off our boards playing bumper SUPs, and got silly with 360s and jumping from board to board.
