Race Cheerzone & Hike

Here’s a note from FD Alumni and event organizer Ray aka “Half Squat”:

Team First Descents is participating in the Leadville 100 Mile Mountain Bike Race on Aug. 13th and the 100 mile Run on Aug. 20th in Leadville, CO!

We want to put together a small cheer zone to volunteer and cheer them on at the First Descents tent; around the half way marker. But, we also wanted to create a fun camping trip out of it for the FD alumni community. Friday Aug 12th- Sunday Aug. 14th. We’d set up camp and cook out, the 13th would include a beach day at Twin Lakes where we would be camping and break camp after breakfast and go on a hike. Pretty much the same for the weekend of the 20th but the race runs longer. So that day would either be a hike or an evening in town; It’s beautiful in that area and there are TONS of hikes!

I would love to share this experience with several of you. It’ll be like all FD events; nothing short of amazing!

The campsites are first come first serve with a two car minimum and a $10 per day fee for every extra car. Also, the parking lot where the cheer zone is located is a small one so we’d want to get there EARLY.

In true First Descents fashion this is is fun event that we are encouraged to be wild and dress up! Fun hats tutus; the like. I’m thinking whistles! We want that fun energy that we all bring to the table.

I’m very excited for this! Whiplash (FD Staff) will be there bringing tons of fun and a speaker! We’re bound to make a splash!
