Born and raised in Southern California, Summer (aka “Lumos”) grew up splashing around the Orange County beaches, frolicking through meadows in Yosemite, and exploring the desert in Joshua Tree. She graduated from CSU Channel Islands where she fell in love with environmental science and making the outdoor space accessible to all. During her time in California, she worked closely with Patagonia and The Surfrider Foundation in planning events and environmental campaigns for the local community. In 2022, she graduated from Western Colorado University with an MBA in the Outdoor Industry where she worked on JEDI projects with the National Forest Foundation. Summer finally made the move to Denver (yay, seasons!) for this position with the First Descents programs team and is stoked to aid in creating space for all in the outdoors.
