Kara Gehan

Kara (“Hermione”) grew up on the East Coast before making her way to Colorado, where she fell further in love with the outdoors and the First Descents community. After experiencing a program as a participant, she came back as a volunteer and is now thrilled to step into a Lead Staff role.

Hermione is happiest on the water, which has led to the slightly questionable life choice of learning to surf while living in a landlocked state, including attempts at river surfing. When she is not chasing waves, you can find her at CrossFit, training for triathlons, encouraging her two kids’ love of adventure, or getting a little too competitive about her fantasy football lineup.
