JOIN US FOR A 2026 HEALING ADVENTURE!

Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area

Lafayette, CA

Join local FD community member Szu-Yu (“Switchblade”) for a fun Bay Area hike at the Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area. It will be a great morning of fresh air, community, and “community science!” This FD hike is pulling double duty. Not only are we getting together to enjoy the trails, but we’re also participating in the City Nature Challenge—a global event to document the wildlife and plants in our backyard.

Saturday, April 25th | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Important Details

  • Location: Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area. We will meet at the Visitor’s Center (near the main parking lot).
  • Activity:  Hiking the Lakeside Loop (AllTrails): a 2.7-mile paved path that circles the water. This hike is perfect for a casual pace and great for spotting wildlife and lakeside plants.
  • How We’ll Contribute to Biodiversity: We’ll be using the iNaturalist app (iOSAndroid) to record what we see. Every photo of a wildflower, lizard, or bird you take during the hike will help scientists better understand and protect the Bay Area’s ecosystem!
    • Download: Grab the iNaturalist app (iOSAndroid) before you arrive.
    • Observe: During the hike, snap photos of any wild plants or animals you see.
    • Upload: Your observations will automatically be added to the Bay Area’s City Nature Challenge project.
  • Cost: $7 for a day pass or $1.50/hour via meters
  • What to bring: Comfortable walking/hiking shoes, water and snacks, a fully charged smartphone (with iNaturalist app installed!) and Sun protection

Whether it’s your first time joining or you’ve been to a bunch of FD meetups, it’ll be a fun day hanging out with local FD community members.

Feel free to invite along friends/family (18+), as anyone is welcome to attend Community Adventures!
