It was with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to Rochelle (aka “Hefty”) in 2015. Her dedication to helping others, her adventurous spirit, and sense of humor were infectious, and we will miss her dearly.

After her first diagnosis of breast cancer, Rochelle became a member of the Federal Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women.  She later founded Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization that has provided support and resources for young women facing breast cancer since 2001.

In 2009, Rochelle joined First Descents for a kayaking adventure and later participated in FD programs across the country.  Hefty’s commitment to FD and the cancer community as a whole was immeasurable and she will forever be a part of the FD family.
