First Descents applies structured resume review and interview procedures designed to ensure a fair hiring process. Background checks will only be conducted after a conditional offer is made to a candidate for a position. In the event that a criminal background check denotes past charges, FD is committed to fairly assessing a candidate’s record by evaluating the nature of their conviction, the length of time that has passed since the offense, and the nature of the position to which they are applying.
First Descents shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, ability status, veteran status, military obligations, and marital or relationship status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, serving program participants; employee hiring and employment practices; selection and management of volunteers, vendors, and contractors; provision of services; and dealings with the general public.
