Join FD members Sam (“Dragon”) and  Stacie (“Jet”) to celebrate Out Living It Day at the Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival. The festival will include three races, along with lots of hangout time and celebrations in a beautiful park on a lake. For those who can make it, we will have one team practice the weekend of 7/18. Dragon will reach out with more info about the practice as we get closer.

Important Details

  • Location: Busse Woods (Ned Brown Preserve)
  • Activity: Dragon boat paddling. We will have three races throughout the day! Boat, paddles, and PFDs will be provided. No experience necessary.
  • Cost: The entry fee for our whole team is $1,400, so the fee can be anywhere from $60 – $120 per person, depending on how many people sign up. (Dragon and Jet and looking into some funding options, so stay tuned for more info.)
  • Max capacity: we need a minimum of 12 people, but can take up to 23!
  • What to bring: Sun protection, water, and athletic, splashable clothing – you can wear a swimsuit, but it’s not necessary.
  • Other info: If you aren’t able to paddle, but still want to join, we’d love to have you join and cheer the team on. (Just make sure to sign up and note that you aren’t paddling.)

Whether it’s your first time joining or you’ve been to a bunch of FD meetups – it’ll be a fun day hanging out with local FD community members in the area. Feel free to invite along friends/family (18+), as anyone is welcome to attend Community Adventures!
