Join local FD community member, Daniel aka “Standby” for the challenging adventure of hiking Pikes Peak, one of Colorado’s iconic 14ers!

Saturday July 22nd at 4am

We’ll meet at Manitou Springs Public Pool parking lot at 4am to beat the heat and any possible high elevation weather rolling in that afternoon. We’ll get shuttled from the the pool parking lot to Barr Trail and make our ascent. You can also meet us at the Barr Trail Parking Lot (but it’s $20 per vehicle fyi).

We’ll be hiking up via Barr Trail which is 11.6 miles one way and 7,400+ ft of elevation gain to reach the summit! We’ll be getting a shuttle back down from a friend but won’t have enough room to take everyone so ideally we recruit a friend or partner to drive another shuttle vehicle to take another group of hikers down.

There is also the option of purchasing a one way ticket on The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway. To reserve your oneway ticket ahead of time, please call 719-685-5401 to arrange. You MUST have your route back planned before you climb.

Whether it’s your first time joining or you’ve been to a bunch of FD meetups – it’ll be a fun day hanging out with local FD community members. Here is a recommended packing list from 14ers.com.
