JOIN US FOR OUT LIVING IT DAY!

We’re celebrating Out Living It Day on Saturday, July 25! This special day of Out Living It celebrates our belief in the ongoing healing power of adventure and connecting with community. For the past three years, we’ve celebrated Out Living It Day by getting outside together — and this year is extra special as we celebrate 25 years of First Descents!

Celebrate by joining a Community Adventure near you!

Important Details

  • LOCATION: Patapsco Valley State Park
  • ACTIVITIES:
    • CAMPING
      • Available Friday night 7/24 and Saturday night 7/25
      • There are two campsites next to each other at Patapsco Valley State Park – Hilton Area
      • The park limits each site to 6 people, so 12 people total
      • We can fit about 2-4 tents per site.
        • Please bring your own tent.
      • Only two cars are allowed at each campsite, so we can ferry back and forth to the designated parking area as needed.
      • The plan is to hang out and enjoy the weekend! Games, frisbees, etc. are encouraged!
    • HIKING
        • We will hike on Saturday at 11:00 am on the Saw Mill Trail.
        • The trail is considered easy to moderate. Please note! Parts of the trail may include rocky creek crossings where it’s possible that your shoes/socks will get wet.
        • Cost: There is a $2-$5 entry fee to the park
        • People are welcome to hang at the campsites after the hike–the park just requires everyone not camping be out by 9:30pm.
  • OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
    • FOOD
      • Please bring food for dinner Friday night, lunch Saturday, dinner Saturday, and anything else they want to eat. (Doats will have some snacks and cold breakfast food for everyone)
      • Alcohol is not allowed at the park.
      • If you have a cooler or camp stove, please bring it!
    • TICKS
      • Unfortunately, it’s already been a bad tick year. Please be sure to bring bug spray, long pants and socks, and maybe even spray clothes and gear with permethrin before coming.
    • BATHROOMS
      • There are showers and restrooms at the campsite.

Whether it’s your first time joining or you’ve been to a bunch of FD meetups – it’ll be a fun day hanging out with local FD community members in the area. Feel free to invite along friends/family (18+), as anyone is welcome to attend Community Adventures!

All attendees are hereby notified of the Community Adventure disclaimer. Community Adventures are a simple way to gather your First Descents family and out live it together, but that’s not all First Descents offers. In addition to awesome meetups, we provide life-changing, healing adventures for young adults dealing with cancer, MS and other serious health issues.
