We’re celebrating Out Living It Day on Saturday, July 25! This special day of Out Living It celebrates our belief in the ongoing healing power of adventure and connecting with community. For the past three years, we’ve celebrated Out Living It Day by getting outside together — and this year is extra special as we celebrate 25 years of First Descents!
Celebrate by joining a Community Adventure near you!
JOIN US FOR A 2026 HEALING ADVENTURE!
Join local FD alum Courtney aka “Catwitch” and other FD community members for an awesome Winston-Salem Hiking Meetup at Pilot Mountain State Park!
Saturday August 31st – 10:00am
The group will plan on hiking Pilot mountain Saturday at 10am via the Grindstone Trail to the Pilot Knob Trail. It’s a moderate 7 mile trail up to the top with amazing views!
For anyone interested in camping, you can book a camp spot here.
Make sure you bring sun protection, a water bottle, snacks, and wear comfortable hiking shoes.

All attendees are hereby notified of the Community Adventure disclaimer. Community Adventures are a simple way to gather your First Descents family and out live it together, but that’s not all First Descents offers. In addition to awesome meetups, we provide life-changing, healing adventures for young adults dealing with cancer, MS and other serious health issues.
