Behind the Mission: Paws

We’re so excited to introduce the newest member of the FDHQ team, Bailey “Paws” Goldstein, who joins as our Development Coordinator! Originally from Rockville, Md., Paws has mad love for the outdoors, having spent time skiing in Colorado and attending summer camp in Northern Ontario throughout her childhood. Her passion for nature and love for Colorado led her to the University of Colorado Boulder, where she graduated in May 2024. With 18 years of personal connection to FD through her family, Paws was drawn to the cause and says she couldn’t be more excited to join our team. She has eagerly taken on the role of overseeing FD’s Out Living It Project and contributing to our mission, which she holds close to her heart.

What is your favorite outdoor activity and why?

Anything in the mountains makes me so incredibly happy! I love to hike in the summers and ski in the winters especially. After volunteering on my first FD program, I have taken such a liking to rock climbing, and I am hoping to start going out more!

Favorite part about your job:

I’ve been on the FD train since I was a little girl, and now being able to see how the organization operates from an inside perspective rather than an outsider is super fascinating to me. Everyone I work with is also absolutely amazing, and I couldn’t ask for a better position to be in!

Favorite Core Program memory:

There was a morning before our group was set out to go rock climbing, and one of the lead staff asked me to play some music out of the car speakers to get everyone excited for the day. Quickly, I connected my phone to the aux and started blasting pump-up music to get everyone to gather by the cars, and everyone did while dancing, singing and laughing. I started taking song requests, and soon enough all different genres of music were playing. It just made everyone so ecstatic for the day we were about to have.

Fun fact about yourself:

I went to summer camp in Canada for 13 years!

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

Where would your dream vacation be and why?

I would love to go to South Africa. The nature there is breathtaking, and I would die to go on a safari down there. I don’t know much about the culture, so I would love to learn about it while being fully immersed in it.
