Flylow Partners with First Descents

As Winter comes to a close and Spring is upon us, we are breaking out the camping gear and planning our next #Outlivingit adventures.  This year, First Descents is stoked to announce that we partnered with Flylow to design the perfect beanie for cool evenings on the crag, or chilly mornings at your campsite.  Flylow gear was started by Dan Abrams and Greg Steen, “a couple of skiers who imagined better gear for the mountains.”

Flylow’s team of gear gurus has customized a rad Flylow First Descents Beanie, and their company will donate 50% of all beanie proceeds directly to First Descents to help provide more life-changing adventures to young adults impacted by cancer.  We can’t wait to rock our Flylow beanies on adventures all season long, and we are thrilled to partner with one of the most trusted, reliable adventure apparel brands out there!

Flylow founder Dan Abrams described his enthusiasm behind the partnership and his commitment to supporting non-profits doing meaningful work.  “We have realized that as a small company we often want to do more than contribute money,” Abrams said. “So, we started a program called the ‘Good-Lab’ where we design and develop custom products, host the product at flylowgear.com, sell the product, and finally deliver the proceeds to non-profit organizations.  This helps by not just getting money to the organizations, but also by getting good gear to grassroots markets as well.  We feel that we are now really doing something that truly can have an impact.”

That’s just it: a simple concept with life-changing effects.  Abrams and the Flylow brand have created a hat that is “way more than just a hat.”  “Go ahead,” they say, “keep your head warm and change a life in the process.”

The Flylow team is #OutLivingIt in a major way.  Abrams describes Flylow as a “a modern company that encourages our crew to get outside everyday.”  They have a strong work hard, adventure hard mentality, and truly represent the Out Living It mantra.  While FDers rock their beanies around the campfire on programs, Abrams says he is stoked to wear his Flylow beanie as he climbs and skis Mount Shasta this May.  If this partnership doesn’t embody Out Living It, we don’t know what does!
