Registration Info

Tickets are $300. Attendees have the option to buy tickets outright or fundraise the ticket cost. You don’t have to stop at $300! Raise more funds and more young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions will experience the healing power of adventure! Fundraisers who don’t reach the $300 price will be charged for the difference before the Out Living It Festival.

What is it and why are we doing it?

FD is celebrating 20 years of life-changing adventures. The only logical thing to do is to provide a massive, multi-day adventure festival for our entire community! The OLI Fest will both be a chance to get Out Living It together and also to raise funds for future FD programs.

Will this be like other FD programs?

This will be pretty different than our other programs! The OLI Festival will include members from the entire FD community, not just young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions. Attendees will be responsible for purchasing some of their own meals, and for registering for the specific activities that they'd like to participate in. Limited activity spots will be available, and some of these activities will require a small additional participation cost. Attendees will also need to camp at our designated festival campground aka "Tent City", or arrange for their own accommodations at a nearby hotel, Air B&B, etc. There will be alcohol available for those who are 21 and up. It's going to have a whole different feel from FD programs, but it's going to be just as AWESOME!

Will the Out Living It Festival be ADA accessible?

Similarly to FD programs, the OLI Festival will be made accessible and adaptive for our community. Individuals who require specific lodging and food accommodations are encouraged to make necessary arrangements for themselves and to contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns they have.

Are travel scholarships or free tickets available?

No. While we LOVE offering free programming, hosting an epic mountain sport and music festival simply ain't cheap! It will be worth every penny though. For those attendees who would prefer not to purchase an OLI Festival ticket, you may fundraise to cover your ticket cost.

What's the deal with airfare and travel?

Attendees need to book their own airfare and travel. Travel scholarships will not be available for the OLI Festival. The South Main festival grounds will all be walkable, and FD will provide transportation to the program activities throughout the weekend. If you plan to go on some adventures of your own, please arrange for your own transportation in Buena Vista.

What accommodations are available during the OLI Fest?

All registrants will have the option to tent camp at our festival campgrounds. Camping is free and quiet hours are 11PM-7AM. If you wish to stay in a hotel or Air B&B, please arrange for your own accommodations.

How do I start fundraising?

You get a Classy fundraising page! When you register for the OLI Festival, your own personal fundraising page will automatically be created! GO BIG! This is a rad opportunity to pay it forward and celebrate First Descents’ 20th Anniversary. Special prizes will be available to fundraisers who go above and beyond!

What happens if I don't reach my $300 ticket fundraising goal?

Any festival attendee who does not reach their $300 goal will be asked to cover the outstanding balance of their ticket.

If I purchased a ticket, can I still fundraise?

Yes please! The more you fundraise, the more programs FD can offer to young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions.

When can I sign up for add-on activities?

Registration for add-on activities will open up in 2020. Spots are limited, and priority will be given to First Descents alumni and young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions.

Why do add-on activities cost $25?

We are stoked to offer a variety of awesome add-on adventure activities! These technical programs require expert instructors, safety equipment, gear, transportation and other costs. Your $25 entry fee will cover the hard costs associated with running these incredible adventure programs.

Can kids attend the OLI Festival?

They sure can! Parents must assume primary care of their child at all times throughout the event. All attendees below the age of 18 are considered a Youth Attendee.
