FDtribs Chicago Q2: Hiking in Starved Rock Recap

This program was an awesome way to kick off this Tributary location! Ten participants gathered in Ottawa, IL for a day of hiking at Starved Rock State Park. Over the course of 3.6 miles, we saw two bald eagles, a snake (eek!), ate lunch along the Illinois River, and ventured into French Canyon to see the scenic waterfall. Despite the summer crowds, the group remained positive and continued to bring the FD stoke! Before heading back to our house, we made a surprise pit stop for some ice cream. Sparrow led a revitalizing yoga flow to bring movement back to our sore legs. After dinner, we all sat along the Illinois river and gazed at the night’s sky and witnessed the meteor shower. Stars flew across the sky, and we watched in amazement. For some folks, it was their first shooting star they have ever seen! It was a quick, but meaningful weekend together in Illinois.
