Our Orlando Trib kicked off our Q1 event by traveling to the famous Kona Skatepark in Jacksonville. We had a full day of skateboard lessons from amateur and professional skateboarders, including 2 time cancer survivor and founder of Grind for Life, Mike Rodgers! When we weren’t dropping in or grinding our way through the afternoon, the Kona Pros gave us totally rad demos in the pool, down the snake run and half pipe! Skate park owner, Martin Ramos, put together the off the wall experience, that included a tour of the historic park, BBQ, amazing race style board building contest, finishing medals and Kona Shirts. One lucky FDer (Jax) got to take home a brand new skate board courtesy of the Kona crew! Oh yeah, did I mention we did all of this in disco/70’s costumes? Can you dig it? -Andrea “Slipstitch” Erion
