Healthcare Worker Programs

We can’t fathom what it’s like to be on the frontlines of the greatest healthcare crisis of our generation, but we do know this: our healthcare workers deserve the opportunity to adventure and recharge together in beautiful, wild places.

So, First Descents and the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation have launched HERO RECHARGE – a nationwide series of outdoor adventure programs for healthcare workers (ages 18-45) on the frontlines of COVID-19.

HERO RECHARGE Programs are designed to improve mental health, nurture supportive peer relationships, and better position providers to carry out their important work. Left unaddressed and without effective opportunities for respite and renewal, our healthcare system may face long-term disruption.

First Descents is working closely with an infectious disease specialist, its Medical Advisory Board, and partners to ensure safe and meaningful programs across the nation.
