First Descents (FD) is thrilled to announce the latest meaningful news from our partnership with Velocity Global. Velocity Global, a renowned global employment solutions provider, has extended a transformative multi-year financial commitment to support the development of a new program for First Descents focused on individuals battling multiple sclerosis (MS). To hear about the exciting news from First Descents founder Brad Ludden, please watch the official FD announcement here.
This gift marks the latest exciting development in a long-standing partnership between Velocity Gloabal & FD. Over the years, Velocity Global has supported First Descents as FD1 program volunteers, Out Living It Project fundraisers, Ragnar relay racers, and loyal FD event attendees. Now, Velocity Global will even further assist First Descents as we realize our vision in becoming the world leader in adventure-based healing.
“We are proud to support First Descents and the thousands of young adults in their care,” says Ben Wright, Founder and CEO of Velocity Global. “I’ve personally witnessed, as a volunteer, the transformative healing power of adventure through First Descents’ programs and I couldn’t possibly be more passionate about their mission and results.”
Velocity Global and First Descents share a special partnership that transcends simply financial support. The two built-in-Colorado companies began as office building neighbors at INDUSTRY Denver in 2014. Through this close proximity, the two companies bonded and have become ingrained in each other’s businesses—and passions. Velocity Global employees also volunteer annually at First Descents’ programs and fundraisers, including the Ragnar Trail Relay Snowmass, a harrowing 24-hour trail relay race.
“We have a young and dynamic team here at Velocity Global and our employees believe deeply in First Descents’ mission,” Wright shares. “I can’t imagine anything more disruptive to someone in their 20s or 30s than to hear, ‘you have cancer’ or another life-impacting disease like MS. We believe that adventure and social connection play an important role in the healing process, and It’s truly an honor to have a small part in their plans to address young adults impacted by a serious illness such as MS.”
With continued year-over-year growth, Velocity Global is one of the fastest growing, self-funded companies in the U.S. The company’s success is not only defined by its culture, but also its promise to continue to give back to organizations that its employees are passionate about.
Ray Shedd, Director of Development and Marketing at First Descents, says that Velocity Global’s support is helping to take its program development to the next level. “Velocity Global has made philanthropy and giving back to the community a high priority as it continues to grow,” Shedd says. “This is something very commendable for such a young and rapidly-growing company. We’re elated to see this program take off, and how it will impact people going forward.”
Thank you, Velocity Global, for your ongoing commitment to helping First Descents offer life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults coping with cancer and other disease-related trauma.
